" In the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to love" - Lord Tennyson

We believe that there are 5 distinct phases that lead up to a couple getting married. Please let us know in our comments space below, if your opinion differs from ours?

They are as follows:

Attraction - This is the initial stage and may include evoking a liking for someone. This may not only be on a physical level. Couples are drawn to each other for a host of reasons, mutual interests, personality, shared values etc... Generally it would be a combination of a number of these things.

Dating - This is the phase where couple get to know each other a little better and generally there is no real level of commitment. This is the "check out the partner" phase,

Courting - Yes there is a difference between dating and courting. When couple have dated for some time, they move into the courtship phase. In this stage there is a distinct increase in the level of commitment to one another and generally a commitment is made to exclusively date one another. This is also the time when meeting the parents and families occurs and marriage plans are discussed.

Proposal/Engagement - " Will he or won't he pop the question" or "Will she say yes or no"
This is an exciting time in the relationship and one of the few life changing commitments we make in our lifetime.
This is when both parties have a deep level of commitment, with mutual understanding and is the time a proposal to tie the knot is put forward.
"Tying the Knot" has its origins in Roman or Celtic marriage ceremonies and generally reflects how couples were tied together to signify their bond.

Commitments of this magnitude require a special recording of your special day, albeit engagement or Wedding.
